Meet the Artist-
I am a self taught artist, primarily working with pastels. I had an interest in art when I was younger, and thought about pursuing art in college until an even greater draw to the sciences led me in that direction. (What I really wanted was to be a vet since I have always loved animals). I was caught constantly drawing horses in my school notebooks.
One day many years later I found a rabbit running around my house, and upon catching her gave her a home. She was a pretty brown and white dutch rabbit I named Alyce. (Sort of like Alice in Wonderland chasing the rabbit in the story). Unfortunately I did not have her for very long as she was a mature rabbit, and had a back problem which was diagnosed as cancer of the spine. She was a darling bunny, who loved to chase toys, would lick your leg for attention and her favorite food was pineapples slices. She was like a cat/dog/bunny all rolled into one. After she died, I had a great photo of her and was moved to do her portrait- which can be seen on this web site.
Alyce gave me the inspiration to get back into my artwork and I am glad for that! I work primarily with pastels on parchment paper, but also use pastel stock paper and recently tried pearlized craft stock paper for its smooth finish and Pastel Board which I find works best for overlay. I love doing pictures as gifts for people I know, of their cherished pets or horses. I also do pictures on commission.
